As part of our vision we want to spread the love of Jesus into the world, locally and globally.

Oasis

A space where it is ok not to be ok

We will meet every Monday between 9:30 and 12:30 at The Chapel.
This will be a calm, safe space to just be yourself. This is ideal if you spend much of your time alone and feel you would benefit from the company offered or feel anxious.
There will be refreshments with a chance to just sit and chat or join in with shared hobbies and activities.
There is a prayer corner where the hosts will pray at approximately 10:00 and 12:15. You can join in with this if you wish but there is no pressure to do so.

Social events

We have regular social events throughout the year to grow relationships with each other and our community. Our monthly community meal is 5-5:45pm, on the first Sunday of the month. Bring a packed lunch or enjoy toast, fruit and drinks provided.

We host quizzes, fundraising events for different charities and activities for children and families throughout the year.

LEGO cafe

During some school holidays we enjoy creating together with LEGO. There is plenty of cakes and drinks for children – and their parents/carers to enjoy too!

Halloween

On the 31st October many people are out trick-or-treating. Whilst we don’t celebrate Halloween, we do want to provide a warm place for people who are out and about. There are crafts, hot chocolate, toilet facilities for all to use and lots of friendly faces.

Easter Fun Day

Easter is a time to celebrate the new life that following Jesus brings. As well as Easter services we celebrate with our community offering free crafts and activities aimed at families. As always, at Light of Life, this includes cake!

Open the Book

A team from Light of Life and St Margaret’s Parish Church run ‘Open the Book’, going into local primary schools to act out Bible stories in assembly.

Christian Aid Week

During Christian Aid week we host a series of fundraising events in the Chapel in partnership with St Margaret’s Parish Church. Each year we raise thousands of pounds for the wonderful work of this charity supporting people in developing countries.

Fairtrade and Local suppliers

We are a Fairtrade church, which means we use fairly-traded products wherever possible. We have fairtrade products on sale in church and in the Chapel Coffee House. We also believe it is important to support the local community by using local suppliers for our ingredients where possible.

Silver Ecochurch Award

In 2018 we received a Silver Ecochurch Award! We recognise that living a life for Jesus means caring for His Creation. We try to minimise the impact our church has on the environment, from composting our kitchen waste to replacing all our heaters and light bulbs to more energy-efficient models. We celebrate creation in our worship and we encourage each other to make responsible choices day to day.

For information on any of the activities we run, contact us via our contact form or check out our news page for up coming events.
